DHS Releases Ready Guides to Prepare for AFG Grant Application Period
IAFC On Scene: July 15, 2011
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has released two new documents to help fire departments prepare to apply for the 2011 Assistance to Firefighters (FIRE) Grants:
New This Year: Grant Recipients Must Register in the Central Contractor Registration System
The documents highlight that at the direction of the Office of Management and Budget, as of August 2010 prime recipients of federal grants must register in the Central Contracting Registration system (CCR), the primary registrant database for the federal government.
There is no charge to register for the CCR system, and fire departments can register on the CCR webpage. CCR registrants must revalidate their registration at least once a year to maintain their active status.
DHS also has announced its July schedule for workshops to help fire departments prepare for their AFG applications.
