Networking at FRI: Great Opportunities This Year for Members, Attendees and Sponsors to Get Together

September 15, 2010

Return to the September
issue of On Scene

IAFC On Scene: September 2010

From the Welcome Reception that kicked off FRI to the Fit-to-Fight 5K Race and the Presidential Celebration at the end of FRI week, once again this year there were many opportunities for attendees and sponsors to meet together, get to know one another and build important relationships. Here's just a glimpse at some of what happened and who supported FRI this year.

Welcome Reception

The Welcome Reception was once again a huge success this year! Over 1,000 attendees enjoyed delicious appetizers and drinks while networking with new and old colleagues and with IAFC staff members. Rounds of poker and Texas Hold ‘Em were played and prizes were awarded. Hosted again by 1-800-BoardUp, this event was a definite crowd pleaser and a great way to kick off the conference.

Fit-to-Fight 5K

One of the later networking opportunities during FRI week is the Fit-to-Fight 5K, and a number of people once again got together to get fit and run for a good cause—helping to raise money for the education of future leaders. Proceeds from the race benefit the IAFC Foundation, providing scholarships to first responders for advancing their fire service education.

Race results are available from the Fit-to-Fight 5K webpage;click on View Race Results and look for your name in the list or search by first or last name, bib number, etc.

Thanks to FRI Prize Donors

The IAFC membership staff extends a big thank you to the more than 30 corporate donors of prizes that were given away on the prize stage at the IAFC Membership Booth at FRI. We greatly appreciate your support!
