IAFC, American Military University Expand Partnership

Chantilly, Va. – The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and American Military University (AMU) today announced they have expanded their successful partnership for another year.

AMU is part of the American Public University System (APUS), one of the largest providers of online higher education offering more than 200 academic programs to students enrolled worldwide. Its mission is to provide high quality higher education with emphasis on educating the nation’s military and public service communities by offering respected, relevant, accessible, affordable, and student-focused online programs that prepare students for service and leadership in a diverse, global society.

The partnership enables the IAFC to promote AMU’s educational opportunities and services to its 12,000-plus members while AMU’s experts will be available to share their expertise with fire chiefs and aspiring fire chiefs through support at several IAFC conferences. These include Fire-Rescue International (FRI), International Hazardous Materials Response Teams Conference, conneXions, and VCOS Symposium in the Sun. AMU continues its longstanding support of the Company Officer Leadership Symposium at FRI and this year is providing additional support for the Chief Officer Leadership Symposium at FRI. In addition, we will be engaging in content collaboration to develop tools and resources to address cybersecurity needs.

Topics of mutual interest include firefighter resilience, emergency management, national intelligence, suicide awareness, and active shooter.

“The IAFC is pleased to continue our strong partnership with American Military University,” said Chief Thomas Jenkins, IAFC president and chairman of the board. “AMU brings an invaluable high level of expertise and teaching skills before our members which benefits our association and the entire fire and emergency service.”

AMU, part of HLC-accredited American Public University System, has long been an advocate of education for members and its fire science and emergency and disaster management programs are also accredited by IFSAC.
