Is Your Department Heart Safe?

Has your fire department designed and implemented an innovative way to improve cardiac care and resuscitation efforts for patients in your community? The IAFC EMS Section, in partnership with Physio Control, is excited to open the nomination process for the 2017 Heart Safe Community Awards.

The Heart Safe Community Award is a highly competitive award program which recognizes Fire-based EMS agencies and other EMS systems that have made strides in improving cardiac arrest survival rates in their communities. Each year, two deserving EMS systems are recognized; one EMS system serving a small/mid-size community (population of 100,000 or less) and one EMS system which serves a large community (population of 100,001 or more).

The Heart Safe Awards are presented each year during the Fire-Rescue Med (FRM) conference in Henderson, NV. Both the Small/Mid-Sized Community recipient and the Large Community recipient will receive one complimentary admission to the FRM conference, a one-night hotel stay at the FRM host hotel, and a crystal trophy.

Please download the nomination form to nominate a deserving EMS system. All nominations are due to the IAFC by the close of business on April 1. For additional information please see the Awards page of the EMS Section website or contact me with any questions you might have.
