FEMA Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) grant program

The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced the application period for the Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) grant program is open from Monday, January 25 at 8 AM ET to Friday, February 26 at 5 PM ET.

This round of FP&S grants will provide $35.5 million for critically needed resources to carry out fire prevention education and training, fire code enforcement, fire/arson investigation, firefighter safety and health programming, prevention efforts, and research and development. Applicants must provide a 5% match in cash or in-kind contributions. There may be an opportunity for an economic hardship waiver to reduce this match.

Under the Fire Prevention and Safety activity, the five project categories are:

  1. Community Risk Reduction
  2. Wildfire Risk Reduction
  3. Code Enforcement/Awareness
  4. Fire & Arson Investigation
  5. National/State/Regional Programs and Projects

Under the Firefighter Safety R&S Activity, the six project categories are:

  1. Clinical Studies
  2. Technology and Product Development
  3. Database System Development
  4. Dissemination and Implementation Research
  5. Preliminary Studies
  6. Early Career Investigator

The IAFC encourages interested fire departments to apply for these grants.
