Hands-On Training Courses

Attendees at IFOC 2019 can register to participate in either a 2-day educational conference or a 3-day Hands On Training Program. At the completion of the programs the participants will receive a certificate for their selected topic area. Each Hands-On option is limited to 30 participants each.

Hands-On Option 1:

Mayday Firefighter Down:  Rescue Techniques

This 16-hour course is designed for all members of the fire service from the Chief to the newest member. The mission of this class is to provide training for every member of the team to survive the worst event on the fire ground using self-rescue techniques and a team approach.  The following subjects will be covered; “two-in/two-out”, self-rescue techniques, flashover recognition, building construction for firefighter safety, firefighter accountability, firefighter drags, lifts, movements and other safe fire ground skills.  Many of the techniques learned during this class are as a direct result of the tragic deaths of firefighters that occurred during fire ground operations.

**Special Note: The practical evolutions are very labor intensive and require a high degree of physical fitness.

Crew Leadership in High-Risk Environments

This course will cover both L-180 and L-280 courses. L-180 - Human Factors in the High-Risk Environment: Entry level human performance skills course designed for team members to be integrated into fully operational teams. L-280 - Emerging Leader: Introductory leadership course designed as a self-assessment opportunity for qualified junior team members preparing to step into a leadership role.

UAE's Experience in Introducing Firefighting Robots 

There are certain scenarios such as (Tunnel, Oil field, Factory) fires in which firefighters are almost unable to table a blaze without it causing them almost certain catastrophic harm; this is why we introduce to our fleet the firefighting robots. An advanced (manless) remotely controlled extinguishing robot that is agile and mobile to handle the toughest situations safely and effectively.
