The Assistance for Local Emergency Response Training (ALERT) grant was awarded by PHMSA to provide hazmat training opportunities for volunteer and remote emergency responders in rural areas around the nation. The IAFC has partnered with several other fire service organizations to develop a blended training program (a combination of online and in-person training offerings) for first responders to effectively manage emergency events involving rail incidents involving the transportation of crude oil, ethanol and other flammable liquids by rail.
