U.S. House of Representatives Passes Continuing Resolution to Keep Federal Government Funded until December 11
On September 1, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a continuing resolution (P.L. 119-103), which President Trump signed into law. The law will keep the federal government funded until December 11. It also delays implementation of the new federal grant regulations proposed by the Office of Management and Budget.

This month is National Preparedness Month. The theme for this year is “Americans Stand Ready.” The National Preparedness Month website includes information about National Preparedness Month as well as resources for families and business.
FEMA Publishes Home Builder's Guide to Construction in Wildfire Zones
Recently FEMA released a new Home Builder's Guide to Construction in Wildfire Zones. The guide outlines best practices to reduce the vulnerability of buildings to wildfires. It focuses on new construction, but also references existing construction. It also addresses structural hardening by providing guidance on design, material specifications and construction of new buildings, and in some cases, existing buildings. In addition, the guide provides best practices and considerations for materials, construction and storage of flammable materials.
