Maintaining minimum staffing requirements is becoming even more challenging. If this trend continues, response time and public safety will become a serious national crisis.

Steps to Step Up

Raise Your Hand

Fill out an interest form today to volunteer at your local fire department. There's no pressure to join and no experience is required.

Get Cleared to Join

It will take a few weeks to clear some behind-the-scenes details, such as a background check, basic physical evaluation, and interview with the fire department.

Learn While You're Here

Once you're in, you'll start training as a probationary department member. You'll have hands-on learning opportunities that will build your confidence over time as you earn certifications.

Answer the Call

After you complete the necessary training and certifications, you'll become a full volunteer firefighter; the timing on this can vary from a few months to a year.
