The Heart Safe Community Guide explains the application and scoring process for the Heart Safe Community Award, issued annually by the IAFC’s EMS Section, with support from the PulsePoint Foundation. The guide highlights key strategies to improve the prevention and treatment of heart disease and sudden cardiac arrest at the community level. It is intended for system leaders and elected officials, offering best practices to help communities become Heart Safe. Systems interested in applying for the Heart Safe Community Award are encouraged to implement the programs outlined in the guide to strengthen their application and enhance community outcomes.
