The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that the application period for the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grants application period will begin on January 3. The SAFER grants help local career, volunteer, and combination fire departments maintain operational staffing capability.
FEMA will make $560 million available for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 SAFER grant program. The Notice of Funding Opportunity and other application information are expected to be made available on the FEMA SAFER webpage. Staffing For Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) | FEMA.gov
The SAFER application period will open at 8 AM ET on January 3 and close at 5 PM ET on February 4.
In addition, fire chiefs are reminded that the application period for the FY 2021 AFG grants have been extended to 5 PM ET on January 21, 2022.
