House Passes FirstNet Legislation (H.R. 7386)
On April 20, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the First Responder Network Authority Reauthorization Act (H.R. 7386) by voice vote. This legislation would prevent the termination of the federal First Responder Network (FirstNet) Authority in February 2027. The IAFC supported this legislation. and thanks to everyone who asked their Representatives to preserve the federal FirstNet Authority. We look forward to working with our allies in the fire, EMS, emergency management, 9-1-1 telecommunicators, and law enforcement professions and state and local government agencies to pass this legislation in the Senate.

Please Ask Congress to Fund Federal Fire Service Programs at DHS
Even though the NFA campus is open for the NFFF Memorial Weekend, it is not funded and cannot hold classes. In addition, we still await the opening of the AFG, FP&S, and SAFER application periods. Congress has yet to fund these programs for FY 2026, which started on October 1. Please ask Congress to pass legislation to fund the fire service programs at DHS and FEMA:
