The House Returns to Vote on Continuing Resolution
On September 1, the U.S. House of Representatives returns to pass legislation to keep the federal government open. Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 ends on September 30, and Congress has not passed a single appropriations bill to fund any federal agency for FY 2027.
So, Congress must pass a continuing resolution to keep the federal government open starting on October 1. On August 8, the U.S. Senate passed a continuing resolution (H.R. 6500) to keep the federal government open through December 11. The legislation also would delay implementation of the Trump Administration’s new regulations affecting federal grants.
The House will be voting on H.R. 6500 this upcoming week.
