Chantilly, Va. – The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Foundation today announced it has received a grant for $40,000 USD from Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc., to continue the Foundation’s efforts to train America’s future fire service leaders.
This is the sixth consecutive year that Motorola Solutions Foundation has provided grant funding to support the IAFC Foundation’s leadership training initiatives. The company officer leadership training follows the standards set forth in the IAFC’s nationally recognized Officer Development Program (ODP). In the past six years, the IAFC’s Regional COLS program has trained more than 850 company officers. Motorola Solutions Foundation awards grants each year to organizations which support and advance public safety programs and technology and engineering education initiatives.
IAFC Foundation President Anthony P. Campisi, president and CEO of Glatfelter Insurance Group, said the Foundation is excited to be able to expand the availability of officer development training across the U.S.
“We thank Motorola for its continuing commitment to the IAFC Foundation’s initiatives to train the next generation of fire service leaders,” Campisi said. “The demands and skills required of today’s fire chief to succeed are increasing and becoming more complex every year. It is critical that we provide our future leaders with the education and training necessary to help them protect their communities and first responders.”
This year, Motorola Solutions Foundation grants will support programs that help more than 3 million students, teachers, first responders and community members around the globe. There is a specific focus on providing grants to programs that impact underrepresented populations, including females, minorities, people with disabilities, veterans and others.
“The Motorola Solutions Foundation is honored to and privileged to support the work of the IAFC Foundation,” said Matt Blakely, executive director of the Motorola Solutions Foundation. “We believe in organizations that are fostering innovation, building partnerships and driving change, and we’re proud to be part of the positive impact they’re making in communities.”
