McLean, VA (September 1, 2026) – The International Association of Fire Chiefs released its Emergency Vehicle Supply and Demand: A Practical Guide to Fire Apparatus Planning and Procurement at the Fire and Rescue International Conference in Kansas City, Kansas, on August 9, 2026.
The Emergency Vehicle Supply and Demand paper was produced by the IAFC Emergency Vehicle Management Section, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association, Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association, and the Fire Apparatus Manufacturers Association.
The report addresses the current market conditions of fire apparatus procurement, best practices for fire apparatus specification development, costing & budgeting planning, fire apparatus maintenance and replacement planning, and public policy recommendations.
