The International Code Council (ICC) and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) have a long-standing partnership dedicated to improving fire and life safety. This collaboration is powerful with the IAFC's Fire and Life Safety Section (FLSS), whose members play a vital role in shaping the ICC's code development process.
Each year, the ICC and the FLSS recognize an individual who has contributed significantly to this mission with the Excellence in Fire and Life Safety Award. This year, we are thrilled to announce that the 2025 award is presented to Peg Paul, Founder and President of Peg Paul and Associates.
Peg's career in fire safety began in 1992, when she developed a consumer education program focused on preventing injuries and deaths from hot water heaters. Since then, her passion and dedication have only grown. She has been a tireless advocate, working with various organizations, including the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition, the National Fire Protection Association, and Vision 20/20.
As a media spokesperson, presenter, and advocate, Peg has raised awareness about critical fire safety issues, especially the importance of home fire sprinklers. As IAFC Fire and Life Safety Section Chair, Chief Greg Rogers, stated, "The progress she has helped the industry make in home fire sprinkler awareness is a testament to the dedication of countless partners and champions in the fire service."
The ICC and the IAFC FLSS honor Peg Paul for her decades of leadership and unwavering commitment to saving lives and property. Her work embodies the spirit of the Excellence in Fire and Life Safety Award, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations.
