Classroom Education
This course prepares operations-level responders to safely identify, assess, and manage propane emergencies through practical instruction, hands-on training, and realistic scenarios. Participants gain the skills and confidence to recognize hazards, use gas detection meters, and apply appropriate mitigation strategies.
This program is ideal for the fire and hazmat leader seeking to meet evolving national standards and enhance their agency's readiness for propane emergencies. The class is offered free of charge.

Optional Pro Board Certification
Students wishing to seek Pro Board Certification for this course can elect to participate in the evaluation process on November 8, requiring a second day of attendance. There is no fee to the student for Pro Board certification.
Pro Board evaluation is limited to 15 students to ensure all evaluations can be completed in the allotted time. Please indicate on the course registration form if you intend to seek Pro Board Certiciation.
Online prework
Online courses, to be completed on the IAFC Academy before the in-person delivery:
- Propane Emergencies for Awareness–Level Responders (approximately 2 hours)
- Propane Emergencies for Operations-Level Responders (approximately 3 hours)**
**You must complete the awareness-level course before you can enroll in the operations-level course.
