The Hearth, Patio and Barbeque Association (HPBA) has developed a suite of educational resources to help prevent burns that may occur from touching the heated glass fronts of gas fireplaces, stoves and inserts.
According to HPBA, glass fronts that enhance the aesthetic of many gas fireplaces, stoves and inserts today can become extremely hot during—and even long after—operation.
The HPBA is reaching out to fire departments so responders can learn about the issues surrounding fireplace glass safety and help educate the public on how they can enjoy their gas fireplace with an added level of safety.
The web-based resources include operational tips, safety mandate information, safety product information, FAQs and downloadable educational materials. Please consider making these resources available to your community.
