VCOS and VFIS Retention and Recruitment Award Open

Chantilly, Va. - The Volunteer and Combination Officers Section (VCOS) of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) with VFIS have opened the application period for the 2018 Retention and Recruitment Award. The Retention and Recruitment Award recognizes success and excellence in the retention and recruitment of emergency service organization members.

“This award recognizes the successful efforts in an area that many fire departments struggle with across the country,” stated Dr. Bill Jenaway, VFIS’s vice president of education, “We wish to highlight the successful efforts of a department that implanted an innovative retention and recruitment program that made a significant difference to their department.”

The application period closes Friday, August 24, 2018. You do not need to be an IAFC or VCOS member to apply, however you must apply on behalf of a fire and emergency services organization. The award requires the program to have been in place for at least one full year.

The organization selected as the winner of the award will have all transportation and hotel expenses paid by VFIS for one member of the organization to attend Symposium in the Sun and VCOS will pay for that member's conference registration.
