Example from the Albuquerque (New Mexico) Fire Department on a standard operating guideline (SOG) for safe positioning in traffic conditions.  This SOG is to provide guidance for proper protection of personnel and equipment through visibility and proper apparatus placement, while on the scene of an incident. This policy will be used to reduce the risk of injury or death to personnel and damage to fire department apparatus while working in or near traffic.
