On May 1, 2025, National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS) began its FEMA Region rollout campaign to begin transitioning and onboarding departments into the new system. This email is designed to share some important resources and information with departments to minimize confusion and distribute resources. Fire departments are being onboarded by FEMA region, one group at a time. This month, we're focusing on FEMA Region 2, which includes New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. If you're a department in Region 2 and haven’t heard from the NERIS team or your state fire marshal, please visit the onboarding page below to get started.
If you're not in Region 2, it is important to be patient. The FEMA Region onboarding schedule is designed to ensure the system has capacity and support for the incremental volume of departments that need to transition. When it is time for your state and FEMA region your State Fire Marshal and the NERIS team will contact you.
