Today, the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency announced its plans to re-start in-person training at the National Fire Academy (NFA). Classes will begin on June 2.
The NFA still has openings for its courses. You can apply through the NFA website.
FEMA also will re-start in-person training at the Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, Alabama, and the National Disaster and Emergency Management University (also located in Emmitsburg, Maryland).
According to FEMA’s statement, “ folllowing a comprehensive review…, it was determined certain courses provide effective training to enhance national readiness for state, local, tribal and territorial emergency managers, first responders and local leaders.” The IAFC thanks everyone who contacted their Members of Congress and called for the re-start of in-person training at the NFA.
This announcement follows an announcement earlier this week that FEMA is opening up the application periods of the SAFER and Fire Prevention and Safety grants on May 23.
