Prepare Your Department for the Next Wildfire

Wildfires are affecting more communities with greater intensity and complexity. Fire Chiefs are increasingly responsible for evacuation planning, mitigation strategy, and operational readiness—often without sufficient internal capacity.

The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Wildfire Programs is now accepting applications for the IAFC Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Mentorship Program, which provides executive-level mentorship, planning support, and operational guidance from experienced wildland fire leaders.

What Your Department Will Gain

Executive mentorship from seasoned wildland fire SMEs
Practical guidance on evacuation planning, mitigation, and readiness
Locally tailored wildfire risk reduction plans
Structured peer engagement with neighboring agencies
Strategic partnerships with state, federal, and tribal organizations

Who Should Apply

Fire Chiefs and command staff from departments operating in, or near, the WUI with increasing wildfire exposure.
