IAFC Applauds FirstNet Leadership Appointments

Fairfax, Va. – The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) today issued the following statement regarding the creation of CEO and president executive positions at FirstNet and the appointment of former police captain Michael Poth as the new CEO and TJ Kennedy, acting executive director, as president:

“The IAFC is pleased that FirstNet today has taken another big step forward toward building a nationwide public-safety broadband network to meet first responders’ needs,” said Chief Keith Bryant, IAFC president and chairman of the board. “Mr. Poth brings the right blend of public safety and technology experience to lead FirstNet. TJ Kennedy’s appointment ensures consistency from the start-up days as the effort continues moving forward. The IAFC looks forward to working with both leaders at FirstNet in the months and years ahead.”

Bryant said the appointments further the IAFC’s belief that FirstNet is developing the leadership, staff and support from states, public safety and other key stakeholders required to make the network a reality.
