IAFC Launches New Digital Center

Fairfax, Va. – The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) today announced the creation of the Digital Center, located at the association’s Fairfax, Va., headquarters. The Digital Center will enable the IAFC to operate more efficiently and cost-effectively, especially in administering its national fire service programs.

“We're moving away from using third-party providers for our technology needs and bringing as many of those services in house as possible, which will benefit not only our members but our federal partners as well,” said Mark Light, IAFC executive director and chief executive officer.

Strategically, the Center will focus on providing leading solutions to the public-safety community through technology, web-hosting services, GIS and geospatial services, application development and interactive database management.

Several national programs that are managed by the IAFC will see immediate benefits of the Digital Center:

  • National Near Miss: Where Lessons Learned Become Lessons Applied
  • Mutual Aid Net: Managing Assets at the Local Level
  • FSTAR: Translating Research and Development for the Fire Responder Community
  • IAFC Academy: Providing Learning Management System (LMS) Solutions for eLearning and Instructor-led Training
