Hazmat Awareness (ALERT via IAFF)

Hazmat Awareness v2 1280x720
Self paced | Online

The Hazmat Awareness (ALERT) web-based course is the first of a two-part program designed to train responders to the operations level of hazardous materials response.

Part 2 of the program is a two-day, instructor-led course that includes both classroom and hands-on training.

The goal is to provide training for response to incidents involving shipments of crude oil, ethanol, and other flammable liquids by rail with a specific focus on providing hazardous materials training for volunteer or remote emergency responders. The part 1 web-based training must be completed prior to attending the part 2 instructor-led course.

Both programs are based on the IAFF’s Hazmat Operations certification program. The web-based training was developed under the Assistance for Local Emergency Response Training (ALERT) grant.
