The Hazmat Fusion Center includes case studies on historical incidents that offer responders an opportunity to learn from the past and apply those lessons learned to future incidents for a more successful outcome.
Case studies include:
- 1986: Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company (B&O) freight train derailment
- 1973: While contents were being off-loaded, a leaking Droxol Propane storage tank connection sparks ignition
- 1947: As longshoremen descended into the hold to load the remainder of a consignment of ammonium nitrate fertilizer, fire between a ship's hull and the cargo holds is discovered
